Lessons

Amanda is available for online and in-person cello and fiddle lessons.  Along with classical repertoire and technique she specializes in teaching traditional Scottish, Irish and Scandinavian music.

Amanda’s philosophy of music education is based on the belief that music is accessible to everyone.  Music enriches our lives and allows us to explore the realms of expression, imagination and creation.  Everyone should be guaranteed the opportunity to learn music and share in musical expression.

Amanda’s teaching emphasizes a strong technical foundation, beautiful tone and the ability to play with creativity.  Her goal is for her students to become independent, critical thinking and creative musicians.

With over 20 years of teaching experience she excels at providing music for her students that will not only help them master challenging musical techniques, but will also be motivating and rewarding to play.  Her former students have gone on to become professional musicians, music educators, sound engineers, and life-long amateur musicians.

“Thank you for making orchestra enjoyable and difficult!  You are a driving force of why I am pursuing music!”

Carl, 18

“Dear Mrs. Craver, Thank you for teaching me how to play the violin.  I love our concerts.  We sound great because you taught us so well.  You are the best orchestra teacher ever!  You never yell at us, you just tell us to stop when we do something wrong.  The music we do in our concerts is so cool.  They are not like slow boring music, they are fast and cool.  I can’t wait until another lesson with you because we get to learn something new every lesson and that makes me get better and better at the violin.”

Olivia, age 10
